Zababdeh Nature - May

We were busy in May, and we didn't go out for many walks. So there are not many pics. Sorry! We'll hope for next May.

May Flora

The word artichoke comes from Arabic: ‘ard means land and shoke means thorn. Thorns of the earth.

There are more ants on this artichoke than visible in the photo. They were all over it, perhaps accessing some kind of nectar or other treat.

By the end of May, grapes are almost ready to eat. Most people try to have a grape arbor somewhere around their home. These are at the nuns' convent. (By July and especially August we will be eating lots and lots of delicious cheap grapes)

May Fauna

We've seen a few baby bird casualties and broken shells. This unfortunate one was in the middle of the road on the way to school. Plenty of insects are getting a meal out if it.
