Jean Morgan, Hendersonville Obituary
Jean Grey Morgan, 99, died on Saturday, November 28, 2009, in Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Morgan, the daughter of “Uncle Charlie” Grey and Bessie Wharey Grey, was born in Davidson, and grew up in Hendersonville. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Alec Morgan, and survived by her children, Alec Morgan and Donna Morgan of Newton, MA, and Betty Morgan Sanders and the late Marthame Sanders, Jr. of Smyrna, GA; her grandchildren, Marthame Sanders, III, and Elizabeth Andrews Sanders of Chamblee, GA, Ian Morgan of London, England, Alecia Sanders Gray and Benjamin Gray of Lawrence, KS, and Elise Morgan and Lee Matsueda of Jamaica Plain, MA; and her great grandson, Ramsay Marthame Sanders. A graduate of Agnes Scott College and Emory Medical School (M.S. in Biology), Mrs. Morgan spent an active lifetime caring for friends and family. She also had a strong commitment to the broader community, serving as President of the North Fulton High School (Atlanta) PTA and frequently volunteering in the community ministries of First Presbyterian Church (Atlanta). In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Community Ministry of First Presbyterian Church, 1328 Peachtree St., NE, Atlanta, GA 30319. Interment services will be held Wednesday, December 2, at 2 pm at the Oakdale Cemetery, her grandson, the Rev. Marthame Sanders, officiating. Arrangements by Thomas Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors.
